The following article is a reprint. You can read the original at the website of the French Consulate in New York.

“Only a few days after taking office, the new Ambassador of France to the United States, Mr. Laurent Bili, was welcomed by the Consul General of France in New York, Mr. Jérémie Robert. This visit was marked by several highlights.

The Ambassador for instance visited Public School 84, one of twelve public schools in New York City that offer a free French-English bilingual education. These schools are an important resource for the French citizens in New York who want their children to preserve their linguistic heritage. They play a major role in promoting the French language in the United States.

Following this visit, Laurent Bili attended the Entretiens de New York, a forum co-organized at the French Consulate General in New York by the Tocqueville Foundation and the Entretiens de Royaumont. This year, the discussion focused on disinformation, conspiracy, and social networks as a new catalyst of violence in democracy. Numerous personalities took part in the discussion, including former French Foreign Minister Hubert Védrine and the famous chess champion and president of the NGO Human Rights Foundation, Garry Kasparov.”
